A lien attaching to one identified property
A mortgage secures one parcel, a mechanic’s lien attaches to the property the work improved, an ad valorem tax lien attaches to the property taxed. The creditor’s claim reaches that property and stops there.
Easily confused with
A general lien reaches everything the debtor owns instead of one parcel.
How the exam asks about it
Property tax liens are specific and involuntary, and they generally take priority over other liens whatever the recording dates say. That priority is a favorite item.
