General lien
A lien attaching to everything the debtor owns rather than to one parcel
Judgment liens and most tax liens are general: they reach whatever the debtor owns in the jurisdiction, often personal property as well as real. The creditor is not confined to the property the debt arose from.
Easily confused with
A specific lien attaches to one identified property — a mortgage, a mechanic’s lien, a property tax lien.
How the exam asks about it
The pairing is general against specific, and it cuts across a second pairing, voluntary against involuntary. Every lien sits in one box from each pair, and items are built on the combination.
