Land use and encumbrances
License
Revocable personal permission to do something on another’s land
A ticket to a ballgame is a license; so is a neighbor’s permission to fish in your pond. It creates no interest in the land, does not pass to anyone else, and can be withdrawn.
Easily confused with
Not the same word as the license a real estate salesperson holds, and the exam will occasionally use both meanings in the same section to see whether you are reading.
How the exam asks about it
Almost always tested against easement. The word "permission" and the word "revocable" both point here.
