Property tax

Assessment ratio

The percentage of market value at which property is assessed

Applied to market value to produce assessed value. It is set locally and varies widely, and some jurisdictions assess different classes of property at different ratios.

How the exam asks about it

A tax calculation with an assessment ratio in it is testing whether you apply the rate to assessed value rather than to market value. That is the whole reason the ratio is in the question.
